eighty-five homes have been destroyed. more than 7,000 have been threatened. ed to people evacuated from the hidden valley lake area, will be allowed home to view the fire damage. butt canyon road also will be allowed back. we are expecting a update coming up. only 20,000 evacuees were permitted back up to the valley view fire. after a week, people are finally able to see the damage the fire had done. >> everything is just gone. it's the worst thing that i can imagine. >> more evacuees will be able to return home later today. >> right now police are looking

novelist jacque collins lost her battle with cancer. she had 30 novels. collins was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer six and a half years ago but chose not to

break news from overnight mandatory evacuations are in place out of wildfires in monterey county. it has burned more than 1200 acres. the fire broke out after 3:30 yesterday afternoon north of the community of james burg. tassaharraandshahuga were evacuated. six people were taken to the hospital saturday because of heat stroke or heat exhaustion. temperatures as high as 103- degrees in lafayette. >> reporter: yes, we are definitely going to be adding

and raiders forecast throughout the hour. >> thank you. let's turn to the lates on the wildfire burning just north of the bay area. firefighters getting containment. that fire is now been burning for more than a week. now people who live in that area finally being allowed back home. here's the latest information on the fire. and within the last hour we have learned that it has burned more than 75,000 acres. new this morning, it is 35% contained. fire killed three people and burned 585 home. more than 7,000 homes are still being threatened. saturday some people who live in mildtown were allowed to rush to their homes. and today people evacuated from the hidden valley lake area will be allowed home as well. kron4 is reporting live for us this morning. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, marty. i'm on spruce grove road in hidden valley lake. many of the homes behind me are

still intact. there's not much damage in in area. and it's starting today that residents in this area will be able to return. also, in some other areas. take a look at this list. hidden valley lake, jerusalem -- you will be able to return today. just like yesterday the sheriff's office says it won't be a free for all. you'll need to prove you live in the area and do that at processing centers. hartman road, grange road. bus canyon road and bus canyon road -- be sure to bring an id or documents that -- police are very serious about this. i almost didn't -- wasn't able to return to the area today. now i've already received some tweets asking when their neighborhoods will be able to repop late but the sheriff's office says that evacuation orders will be not lifted in any other areas that the time.

in the hospital and tied up traffic for hours. according to -- the sfpd two men were shot in this car just after 4:30 saturday afternoon. the frightening shooting happen -- to 101 south. that area had to be shutdown for more than an hour while police -- they say one man was shot in the neck. other shot in the leg. the shooter who police say was in another car took off and is still on the loose. police do not believe the shooting was connected to road rage and the chp shots fire. this could have been ended a lot worse. >> what happened was that when the shooting took place, the driver that -- inside that victim vehicle when he -- collide into another vehicle in front of him fortunately it was a minor collision. no one else was hurt but could have been much more serious.

for livermore. temperatures are going to be climbing fast today. look at your day planner. right now in the upper 50s and by lunchtime it'll already be in the upper 80s today. 98 by 2:00 p.m. at 5:00, 10 miles an hour and this evening also going do be quite warm fr you. only mid-80s by 8:00. slow cooldown. heat advisory for all across the -- 6:00 and 10:00 and goes through 8:00 tonight. what it means will temperatures will climb quickly throughout the morning hours. widespread 90s and triple digits. that's where we're going to see some of the hottest ratings for today. in the beaches, also be quite warm. temperatures are going to be warming up. boy lunchtime a lot of 80s and 90s already. by later this afternoon between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. we'll be hitting our afternoon

that fire now has been burned more than a week. hereis the latest information on the fire for you. within the last hour, we learned that it has burned more than 75, 000 acres. the fire is 53% contained. three people had been killed. 585 homes have been destroyed and more than 7000 homes are still threatened. yesterday some people who live in middle town were allowed to return back to their homes. as we mention some people from middle town able to go to their homes on saturday but only a few out of the 20, 000 evacuees from the fire were permitted back to highway 2 and being able to see the damage that's done from the fire. i want to let you know
